Healthcare courses increasingly fashionable

Business schools are increasingly turning their attention to the growing management needs of those working in healthcare, from doctors to medical insurers and finance professionals to government officials.
In Canada the Sauder school of business at the University of British Columbia is to launch an executive MBA in healthcare from April 2008. The 15-month programme has been designed by the business school in conjunction with the UBC centre for Health Care Management and in consultation with an advisory group from local health authorities and professional associations.
Meanwhile the Judge Business school at the University of Cambridge in the UK and the school of public health at UC Berkeley are to collaborate to bring two existing short executive programmes together to form the Global Health Leadership Forum.
The two existing programmes are both well-established: the Cambridge health leadership programme has been running for 12 years while the Berkeley advanced health leadership programme has been running for five years. Faculty from both Berkeley and Cambridge will support the programmes which will run in California in January and the UK in June. Participants can attend one or both programmes.
