Dipak Jain heads to Thailand to become dean for a third time

Dipak Jain, former dean of Insead and the Kellogg school at Northwestern University, has been appointed dean of the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, part of Chulalongkorn University, in the Thai capital of Bangkok.

Prof Jain joins a select group of serial deans who have headed up three schools, including Edward Snyder (Darden at Virginia, Chicago Booth and Yale) and Robert Sullivan (Carnegie Mellon, UNC Kenan-Flagler and Rady at UC San Diego).

Prof Jain will be only the second dean of the Thai business school – he succeeds Toemsakdi Krishnamra, who founded Sasin and led the school of management for 32 years.

“I’m honoured and privileged to follow in the footsteps of Prof Krishnamra, who has been a mentor to me for 25 years,” says Prof Jain.

Prof Jain, a marketing specialist, says that with the addition of the school’s second campus in the resort of Phuket, he plans to make Sasin one of the leading business schools in the Asian region. To do so, Prof Jain will have to compete with several strong business schools in Singapore, including Insead and the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines.

The Sasin school teaches MBA and EMBA programmes.
