Jonathan Brayne, of law firm Allen & Overy, is the chair of the firm's legal tech hub, launched in 2017, Brayne has made a career out of enabling innovation at his firm from creating the firm's online legal services business to its flexible resourcing business. Julia Salasky is the founder of CrowdJustice, a crowdfunding platform that helps individuals, charities and the law firms that represent them cover the costs of litigation.

This year's Legal Innovator of the Year had joint winners, Jonathan Brayne, from Allen & Overy, and Julia Salasky, from CrowdJustice. What do you two think your innovations mean for the future?

Well, someone said that innovation is 1 per cent imagination and 99 per cent perspiration. And from my experience, innovation is all about the perspiration bit. I mean, it is just hard work, relentless grind. And that's what I expect we'll all be carrying on doing.

At CrowdJustice, we're trying to increase more consumer access to the legal system, and also enable firms to be able to take on more matters. And I think, for the future, the access to justice can really benefit from this kind of innovation, and also from different innovations across the sector.
